The Coonawarra viticulture region is based on the small area of terra rossa soil stretching north from Penola for fifteen kilometres and restricted to only two to three kilometres in width and is a four and a half hour drive from Melbourne and a four hour drive from Adelaide.

This tiny area is the most sought after wine district in Australia and is internationally famous for its range of red wines. The region of Coonawarra has dominated the most sought after red wine awards in Australia.

Coonawarra is a cool climate wine region. The long growing season is marked by sunny, warm and dry days followed by cool evenings; an ideal combination for developing the intense varietal characteristics for which Coonawarra is internationally renowned.
